    2003 Hewitson "Old Garden" Mourvedre
  OLD GARDEN VINEYARD, BAROSSA VALLEY

Good March Release   Mourvedre

  Tasting Notes

The fruit for this wine comes from 150 year Mourvèdre vines planted in “The Old Garden” Vineyard (established 1853). Dean Hewitson discovered this rare and wonderful resource a few years back, and has captured all its magic in the bottle since then.
The wine is dense, rich and powerful, yet has extraordinary natural balance. Its deep purple-red hues deliver beautiful aromas of spice, blackberry and blueberry. Subtle hints of nutmeg and vanillin are woven through the wine. The palate is velvety and seamless, laden with delicious concentrated black fruits and cherry. This wine is a stunner now, but will improve for at least a decade.
