Produced from a vineyard that is almost impossible to get too, this wine displays all of the mineral and earth characters that make Jeffrey’s Riesling so desirable. A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. It is deep blood red in color but by no means is a super dark inky monster. The bouquet is a mix of the earthy notes mentioned above and some blueberry and cherry fruit. The fruit is ripe but it is not sweet. In fact the cherry note is slightly sour cherry in the style of a Tuscan red. The wine is quite tight and lean at the moment. It will benefit by a minimum of 5 years in the cellar. After it has been given a chance to soften out the wine will be rich and generous, but please be patient. When the wine is ready to drink it will be best matched up to a mushroom flavored sauce to accompany a roasted joint of lamb or beef. |
