Bordeaux Blends |

Perhaps the most distinctively elegant Bordeaux inspired blend out of Australia, sourced from the “Isolation Ridge” Vineyard. For starters it is Merlot (48%) and Cabernet Franc (43%) dominant, with smaller parcels of Malbec (4%), Cabernet Sauvignon (3%) and Petit Verdot (3%) , completing the “choir”.
The Franc dominates the nose with Merlot providing a blanket of well defined fruit flavors. The Malbec adds dusty, dark aromas, the Cabernet a mineral note, and the Petit Verdot hints of pepper and spice.
On the palate, the complexity of blend is immediately apparent. So much going on as on the nose, but even more seductive. Earth and dusty nuances complete the picture, a product of vineyard site no doubt. This is a keeper. ’92 is just hitting close to peek, so don’t drink it all now.
Given that the owners of Frankland have 3 to 5,000 head of sheep on the farm, rare roast lamb with an assembly of seasonal vegetables is a must!! |
