Print this Wine         1995 Frankland Estate "Olmo's Reward" (Merlot/Franc+++)   FRANKLAND, GREAT SOUTHERN                 January Release   Bordeaux Blends       This wine grows in stature each year. Seemingly as the vines mature this Bordeaux style blend has become one of the outstanding wines produced anywhere in the country. Whilst the 1994 release was a fabulous wine this vintage is superior in virtually all aspects. Highly perfumed on the bouquet with high tone floral notes combining with savoury, almost soy sauce, herbal and nutty characters. Beneath this are rich and developed plums, sweet and juicy, with an earthy component as well, and some spice from a little new oak. This is a very complex wine, and the complexity will continue to develop with further time in the bottle. The complexity is primarily derived from the blend of grape varieties used in the wine. Cabernet Franc provides the savoury, herbal characters. Merlot has all the juicy plums and the Cabernet Sauvignon supplies the backbone and structure. In addition to this multi-faceted array of flavors on the nose, the palate has the bonus of a silky and unctuous texture. The fruit flavors are the most apparent at this stage of the wine’s development but the secondary flavors are there and will grow in importance in the composition of the wine. The wine is already rich and developed, yet it is so young. Therefore the problem of the optimum drinking period is quite difficult to determine. No doubt, the wine will continue to develop and become richer with further bottle age, but it is so lovely to drink right now. Medium to full bodied red meats are best suited to this wine. Pot roasted veal with mushrooms and bacon would be ideal, and gamy meats such as Venison or Hare would be suitable to serve with the wine because of its complexity.         How do I download Hi-Res Labels?
