Again this amazing wine defies logic! 11% alcohol, and yet beautifully aromatic on the nose, and elegant yet intense on the palate. Excellent colour, pale yellow with very bright green tints. Lifted lemon grass, citrus edge to the aromas. Some background Hunter ‘straw’ notes. Initial palate impression is of hay, straw and hints of lemongrass. The low alcohol means a typical lean mouthfeel but there is sufficient lemon acid to carry the flavours. With such a young wine the ‘zest’ shines through and while not as ‘tropical’ as the 2000, the lemon grass/hay and citrus is very typical for Brokenwood. Suggested Foods: Best consumed with fresh oysters or other fresh seafood.
