Deep purple red. Complex aromas of dark berries, leather and a suggestion of liquorice nicely integrated with new French oak characters. Flavours are rich and mouthfilling displaying the fine, drying tannins that help give our wines length and persistence. Typical Pikes Reserve Shiraz in that is shows real elegance as well as subtle power. Another 8-12 years in the cellar will reward those who can stop themselves from drinking it now. The 1998 vintage will be seen as one of our best red wine years in South Australia in the past 25 years.
