| Location: |
Heathcote is situated in the central region of Victoria, 120 kilometres North West of Melbourne. During the gold rushes of the 1850's, Heathcote was an important gold field town and some of the miners who settled in the area after the gold ran out brought their wine and grape growing expertise with them. It is noted for its Shiraz. |
| Climate: |
The Heathcote climate is one of moderate warmth, comparable with that of the central and northern Rhone Valley. The region provides the perfect balance of adequate warmth to properly ripen Shiraz but yet is cool enough to impart elegance. |
