| Location: |
50 miles NE of Adelaide. The twists and turns of the Barossa Valley are at times as clearly defined as those of the world famous Napa Valley in California. |
| Climate: |
The climate of the region has often been unfairly characterised as very warm but, in fact, in its lower parts it is only moderately so and at higher altitudes quite cool. Barossa's biologically effective temperature summation and ripening mean temperatures are almost identical with those of Margaret River. |

The Barossa is undoubtedly home to BIG reds. For me, what distinguishes Elderton from other Barossa Valley producers, is their wines are certainly big, rich, dark and brooding, YET elegant and well balanced. I call them “Elegant Monsters”. Attention to picking time, gentle pressing of fruit, and a watchful eye on oak influence have made these wines “stars” in the Barossa.
